Assembly Bill 2292 passed and was signed by the Governor on 7/24/06. This bill amends LC 4702 to indicate that when there are no dependants a $250,000 death benefit is payable to the estate of the deceased employee and no payment to DIR is required. The bill states it is to clarify existing law so, in effect, it applies to all cases immediately.
